Ceramics

Functional, decorative, and memorial works formed in clay and finished in fire.

Frustration with the colors I could get on my bronze sculptures led me into a world of exploring color through ceramics and glazes.  I also moved from primarily using oil-based clays to water-based clays so I could glaze and fire a work with COLOR instead of the usual browns of bronzes.  Also, making sculptures to be cast in bronze has a number of obstacles, from time and cost to whether or not a work was worthy of said time and cost.  Now, in ceramics, it’s a playground.  And, I love functional art – so here I get to create both decorative beauty and utility.  “Go make the world more beautiful”, said a doctor, releasing me from an appointment.  I’m doing my best.
